Autumn Soccer
Competition kicks off our 2007 year.
ROUND 1
Saturday 24th February saw our 4 teams Round 1 begin with
Team 1 v Team 2, a few players were
absent
giving Jacob Fox the chance to score 6 goals before playing for his
Team 3. Team 1
went on to score a 7-3 win
.
Teams 3 v 4 seemed to be all over at half time with Team 4 down 1-4
but with River Bryant
finding some Form to score 2 to bring the score back to 5-5, but an
own goal on the stroke of
full time by Anthony Wrightson gave a 6-5 win to Team 3. Jacob
managed 1 goal which made
7
for the day.
Points: Team 1 = 3 ½ pts. Team 2 = 1 pt.
Team 3 = 3 pts. Team 4 = 1 pt.
ROUND 2:
Two close games with 19 goals, Team 2
v Team 3 was first up in the humid heat,
but what a well fought game
with victory going to Team 3 after
River Bryant again helped out with a well taken goal Jacob Fox also
netted 2 to take his tally to 9. Jason Hogan came on to help injured
Melissa and scored for both teams. The second game between Teams 1 v
4 was a sea-saw match finishing at 6-6.
Rene Pahanunot and Frankie Devitt both scored two each for the grade
7 and under, as one goal in every set of three scored needs to be by
a junior. Liam Tucker scored two and hit the crossbar twice, the
score draw gives the teams 2 points each.
Points: Team 1 = 5 ½ pts. Team
2 = 2 pts. Team 3 = 6 pts. Team 4 = 3 pts.
ROUND 3:
Saturday
10TH March another 2 close game with 16 goals. Team 1
leap-frogged Team 3 into top spot with a 4-2 win, giving the younger
children a full game we played 11 a-side today and was nice
to see them
running with the ball to build their confidence. First goals for
Nick Eggleton and Dezi Howard with Jacob Fox netting another to take
his tally to 10 from the 3 rounds. The second game saw Team 2 jump
into 3rd spot with a 6-4 win after David McIssac netted
4, he now has 6 in second place on the goals list with Frankie
Devitt now up to 5 with 2 for Team 2, while Brandon Kidd helping out
Team 4 scored 2 to take the score to 4-5 and in trying to get that 5th
goal equalizer left the back open for Tean 2 to score and take all 3
points.
Points: Team 1
= 8 ½ pts. Team 2 = 5pts Team 3 = 7pts Team 4
= 4pts.
ROUND 4:
Strengthening
Team 2 with Peter Chippendale as captain and Eric Short moving to
team 4, they had a great win over Team 1, 10-5 with both James
McIsaac and Frankie Devitt scoring hat-tricks.
Jacob Fox
came on second half to help team 1 with both Jacob and Liam Tucker
netting 2 each, David McIsaac also scored 2 for team 2, but it was
Frankie`s second goal from the edge of the box curling into the top
right hand corner of the goal which got the biggest cheer from a big
spectator crowd today.
Second game
was a game of two halves with Team 4 up 4-2 at the break, and
looking for their first win of these rounds, Team 3 with the help of
Frankie Devitt took charge and netted 2 of the 6 in the second half
with only 1 in reply ending 8-5 to team 3. We welcomed some new
players signing up so that there was 6 from the grade 7`s on either
side in an 11 a side game.
Points: Team
1 = 9 ½ pts Team 2 = 8 ½ pts Team 3 = 10 ½ pts Team 4 =
5pts
ROUND 5:
Another
picturesque day at Jackson oval for our soccer today with both the
Sharks and Roos enjoying another well fought game on the field. Kyle
McCafferty started with an headed own goal but in the second half
made up for it with a strike from the half way which sailed into the
net, with Amy Devitt weekly improvement and Tom Lilly again having a
good game and scored 2 in the 7-5 win for the Roos. Also for the
Sharks Jarrod Hogan and Mitchell were again the work horses to keep
the reds in the game, the blues now have a 3-1 lead with 2 games
remaining.
This week it
was the Greys with a few missing players, but both teams involved
younger children, 2 of the Sharks, Jarrod Hogan and Rene Pahanunot
played against each other and were not phased by the bigger players,
well done. Both Macker,6 and Mick Marriott,8 scored well today
fighting for top goal scorer spot now 20 & 19 goals scored as the
Green/Red won 14-9 to make it 3-2 with 2 games remaining. Andy
Stranksy had his best game so far and even scored 2 goals, while
Liam Tucker also scoring 2 goals was the main force for the Greys.
Father & son Damien & Aiden also both saw more of the ball for the
Green/Reds getting on the score sheet also.As our School Children
Teams did so well in Capalaba on Tuesday we decided to have these
next two Saturdays as training for the next round of games, so years
4&5 versed 6&7 with extra coaching from the adults, playing only 3
touch in the first half the years 4&5 were extremely pleasant to
watch as they took a 5-1 lead. Giving the years 6&7 2 more players
the game ended 5-5, but the idea was not about the goals but playing
together and keeping their position, most kept up the pace for both
the 35 minute half’s and when we play in Capalaba they are only 25
minute games. Well done to all and we will try to get both full
school teams for next week.
The Adult 3pm
kick off was a mixed team game to involve even more of the children
for more practise.
Saturday 19th,
with our years 4&5 v years 6&7 at 1.30 for more training towards our
School games Tuesday week in Capalaba and yes there was a lot less
bunching as most kept their positions on the field, only playing 9 a
side a few had to do more running. It was nice to see the 6 & 7
passing the ball a lot more than last game which resulted in 11
goals 3 from Leah Price and 2 well taken ones from Kenny Wilson, but
4&5 again put up stiff opposition against the older players netting
6, 3 from Damio Wilson
And was nice
to see brother & sister Jimmy & Amy Devitt also scoring, well done
again everyone.
The mixed
Adult game was very even and finished 8-8 with both Edwardo
Pahanunot and Macker scoring 5 each and for the children who helped
out it can only improve their game
ROUND 6:
What 2
fantastic games we saw today, the Roos finished 11-7 winners over
the Sharks but there were many nice talking points and the passing
from both sides was outstanding and great to watch after all the
coaching from these last few weeks.
Trent Fleming
scored 4, two of which were first time strikes running in at the
goal, while Zac Manson scored 5 and partnered well with Frankie
Devitt who netted 2 two take his tally to 17 goals. The Roos are now
4-1 up so will win the Post-office Shield but I am sure we will
again see some tough competition next game also, well done to all
you players it is so nice to see you all enjoying the beautiful
game.
The Green/Red
against the Greys finished 9-9 so the Greys still have a 3-2 lead
going into the last game next week, but again some great passing and
goal scoring from both sides, Mick Marriott with another 8 goals now
just ahead of “Macker” James McIsaac 27 to 24 on the goals tally.
But there were also some fine goal-keeping from both Edwardo
Pahanunot and Melissa Warne.
ROUND 7:
With the Roos captain
away for this last game the Sharks ran away with a 12-4 win to end
the round on a high with 4 goals each by Kevin Casinay and Damo
Wilson and along with Brandon Kidd all finished on 11 goals each,
but Frankie Devitt top goal scored with 17. A most improved medal
for the Sharks will go to Rene Pahanunot while Amy Devitt will take
the Roos medal, but well done to everyone as over these last few
months the level of playing has improved.
On that note a big
“WELLDONE” to all the children who played in the Redland District
Inter-School Sport over two days in Capalaba. Our grade 6/7`s mixed
team finished top of 8 schools while our grade 5/6`s mixed team
finished 3rd, the 2 teams finishing above them were all
grade 5 boys.
As for the Adults, at 3-3 at
half time it looked like there may have to be an extra game, but
with Macker on the score sheet 4 times and Mick Marriott again
having to watch from the side line due to his ham-string going
again, it again proved the difference between the two side as the
Grey team took the Cup 7-5 winning 4 games to 2. Macker with his
goal scoring tally on 28 just pipped Mick on 27 to take top goal
scored, while Edwardo Pahanunot received most improved adult player.
Looking forward to our next
